The Downs Shopping Centre has an interesting history.
In October 2009 the shopping centre caught fire from what is believe to be an electrical fault in the roof.

Nobody was injured, in the fire but the blaze guttered the building and destroyed the IGA supermarket, chemist, bakery, newsagent and the bottle shop.

The Shopping Centre was rebuilt in 2010 on the same corner location at a price of $4.6 Million Dollars.
The new building consists of an 1,800 m2 single storey shopping centre which is now occupied by 4 tenants, an IGA Supermarket, Liquor Barons bottle Shop, Chemart Chemist & newsagent.
The Downs Shopping Centre provides a pleasant shopping experience for those last minute items for simply having friends over for a BBQ.
