Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club was established in the year 1958 by a bunch of guys who were unhappy with the North Beach Surf Life Saving club’s Management located underneath James Street, North Beach
Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club has a host of Junior and Senior competition options which consist of flags, beach running, surf skis, surf swimming as well as March Past and First Aid competitions.
Members can be seen patrolling the beach, ensuring that the public who visit Sorrento Beach are safe in the water.
In the early years of the club, the first tower to provide an elevated viewing platform was an old water tank located behind the club house.
It was very efficient as a lookout but provided very little protection from the sun and the weather.
The club house offering member’s club room, training rooms, café & a fully licensed bar.
The club provides facilities for members to store their privately owned equipment.
There is a Uniform shop where members can volunteer and assist in providing new uniforms for other members.
The Club rooms can be hired for functions & events, however they do not cater for 18th and 21st birthdays.
The venue can accommodate 150 seated for dinner or 200 people for cocktail style functions.
There are plans for the re-development and building of a new club house.
The new building with be nearly double the current floor space with an increase in car parking from 140 car bays to 152 car bays.
